PANORAMA HOUSE

Set within the elevated dunes behind the iconic Sunshine Coast shoreline of Sunshine Beach, the home engages its setting from the outset. It sits high yet sheltered. It responds directly to light, breeze, and topography. At the same time, it offers retreat above the natural rhythm of the beach below.

From arrival, the experience unfolds with intent. First, a forecourt layered with lush green foliage slows movement and softens the approach. Then, a timber arbour draws you forward. It filters light overhead while framing controlled views through to the main residence. Anchoring this threshold, a two-storey brise soleil of Australian hardwood establishes scale, rhythm, and shade.

Beyond this, the arbour leads into a central courtyard. Here, openness and enclosure find balance. The structure continues past the pool and pool house, allowing landscape, water, and built form to sit in calm dialogue. As you move onward, the space begins to tighten. The atmosphere becomes more tactile and grounded.

Next, sweeping curved masonry walls, finished in Venetian render, rise on either side. Their softened forms guide movement. In doing so, they gently funnel you into a semi-subterranean foyer. This moment marks a clear transition. The space feels cooler. Heavier. More contemplative.

From this point, the journey shifts again. Now, movement turns upward. A highly detailed timber stair rises through three levels within a tall vertical void. Alongside it, a light well introduces shifting daylight. As you ascend, light and shadow reveal texture and craftsmanship in measured stages.

Finally, the space releases. The volume opens. Light expands. The journey resolves in a carefully held crescendo, where form, material, and view align and lead the eye back to the horizon.
